Does God exist and who is He?

This is the central question of Christianity and Jesus himself made it impossible to avoid. He didn’t simply claim to be a great teacher or a prophet. He claimed to be God in human flesh, and the people around him understood exactly what he meant. Jesus did many things that only God would do or claim.

  • He accepted worship (Matthew 14:33)
  • He forgave sins (Mark 2:5–7)
  • He used God’s sacred name when he declared “Before Abraham was, I am” (John 8:58)
  • He said, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30).

The religious leaders weren’t confused about what he was claiming. In fact, they tried to stone him for blasphemy.

C.S. Lewis famously argued that Jesus left us no comfortable middle ground. A man who says the things Jesus said is either a “liar, a lunatic, or Lord”. A mere good teacher doesn’t claim to be God. The evidence pushes us toward a decision.

The early church, including those who knew Jesus personally, worshiped him as God without hesitation. The apostle Thomas, upon seeing the risen Jesus, declared “My Lord and my God!”  Jesus accepted this label and never denied it.

The New Testament is consistent: Jesus is fully God and fully human. He is the Word of God made flesh who come to rescue us from sin and death. The resurrection is the ultimate confirmation. If Jesus rose from the dead, his claims stand. And the historical evidence for the resurrection is stronger than most people realize.

Belief in Jesus as God is not a philosophical argument. If Jesus is not alive then Christianity is disproven and there is nothing to discuss. If Jesus is alive then you should simply invite him to settle the matter! All it takes is sincere and genuine prayer for God to reveal himself to you and change your heart.
