How do I build genuine faith?

This is perhaps the most important question anyone can ask. And the Christian answer is both simpler and more surprising than most people expect.

The instinct most of us have is that heaven is earned by being a good person and doing more right than wrong. But the Bible presents a different picture. God’s standard is not “mostly good” but rather perfection. And none of us meets that standard. Every person has sinned, and sin creates a real separation between us and a holy God that we cannot bridge on our own.

This is why Jesus came. He lived the perfect life we couldn’t live, died in our place to pay the penalty our sin deserved, and rose again to defeat death itself. What we could not earn, God offers freely as a gift. The theological word for this is grace.

Getting to heaven, then, is not about being good enough. It’s about receiving what Jesus has already done. The Bible calls this faith when we turn from living for ourselves and start trusting Jesus as Lord and Savior. It’s not a formula or a transaction; it’s the beginning of a real relationship.

If you’ve never taken that step and want to, it can be as simple as telling God honestly: “I know I’ve fallen short. I believe Jesus died for me and rose again. I want to follow him.” That’s a prayer God loves to answer.
